Homework & Remote Learning
Enjoyable home learning can really support children’s reading, spelling, and number fluency.
Each child receives both a spelling and poetry book, filled with engaging activities that reinforce what they’re learning in class.
We encourage all children to read every day. In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1), children take home a phonics book matched to the sounds they’re learning that week, as well as an additional book to share and enjoy with their family.
In Key Stage 2 (KS2), children choose their own age-appropriate book from the library, guided by their reading level. Their progress is then celebrated and monitored during weekly Accelerated Reader (AR) sessions.
Students can also access a range of free online programmes which allow them to explore their learning in exciting and different ways.
- Help Me Spell - for spelling practice
- Times Tables Rock Stars - for times tables practice
- Purple Mash - for computing and learning-based games
- Scratch - for coding
- Maths Fluency Test
We value the partnership between home and school. To help children make the most of their learning, we recommend setting up a calm, well-lit space for homework. We encourage parents and carers to talk with their child about their work, take a look at what they’ve completed before it’s handed in, and help them check for neatness, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Working together helps build your child’s confidence and love of learning.

Remote learning
If your child needs to study from home in exceptional circumstances, we have clear procedures in place to ensure their learning continues with minimal disruption.
Drawing on our extensive experience with remote education, we know how to make it effective and engaging for students. Should the need arise, we’ll ensure that both you and your child receive the support and resources necessary to make learning from home a success.
