Secondary Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to achieve upward social mobility.

The aims of our curriculum are to:

  • Be accessible for all
  • Promote a love of Reading
  • Be knowledge led
  • Inspire ambition
  • Celebrate oracy
  • Thread knowledge across the curriculum
  • Offer opportunities to consolidate and expand understanding

Honed with years of experience in the key foundations students need in order to achieve and adapted for the needs of the students, our curriculum is broad, engaging and exciting.

We work hard to make sure that the curriculum is knowledge rich, giving students the confidence to learn complex topics in great detail.

With superb facilities, we’re able to design learning experiences which help students make brilliant progress no matter their starting points. This is partly due to the all-through nature of our curriculum which has been developed with the primary teachers to make sure that strong foundations are in place before our students even join Year 7. We then work to make sure that no matter their starting point, students gain confidence across their subjects and are given the chance to thrive.

You can click through to each subject and see the passion and vision behind each area of our school curriculum. These include curriculum maps from the primary all the way through to sixth form as well as contact links for subject leads should you have any further questions.

We are a research-based and evidence-informed school. Our approach to teaching is centred around ‘keeping up and not catching up’.

Our staff follow our teacher workbench which outline our core teaching principles.

“I really enjoy learning about history because it helps me understand how the world got shaped into what it is today. It’s interesting to learn about what happened in the past and how those events still affect our lives now, and it makes the world make more sense to me.”

Sintija, Year 8

“I love my geography lessons because I enjoy learning about the world and how different places work. My teachers are really supportive and help me understand new topics, which makes the subject even more interesting and enjoyable.”

Ollie, Year 8

“I really enjoy my English lessons because we get to learn lots of interesting stories. My favourite part is creative writing and learning about Greek mythology, because it lets me use my imagination and create my own ideas.”

Joseph, Year 7

“I really enjoy the music curriculum because we get to actually play music and learn an instrument, which makes lessons fun and exciting. Music is everywhere - you can’t really find a place without it - so learning it feels relevant to everyday life.”

Harley, Year 9

“I enjoy my art lessons because they give me a way to express how I feel and think."

Francesca, Year 11

“I love my Computer Science curriculum because I want to work with computers when I’m older, and I really enjoy coding. My favourite program to use is Python, because it makes problem-solving fun and lets me create things on my own.”

Far’han, Year 9

“I enjoy my chemistry lessons because they really challenge me to think critically and solve complex problems. It’s a cognitive challenge that keeps me engaged. I know the skills I’m developing will help me succeed in a future career in the medical field, where understanding chemistry is essential to helping people.”

Andrew, Year 12

“I have had the chance to speak with other schools across the world as part of the Eco Team last year. I was able to discuss with them how they could be more eco-friendly through efficient energy use. It was really empowering!”

Thanushik, Year 7
