SACRE Locally Agreed Religious Education Syllabus
At Harris Garrard Academy, we follow the Religious Education syllabus agreed by the Bexley Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE), a statutory body set up by each Local Authority to oversee RE in local schools.
Religious Education plays an important role in preparing pupils for adult life, employment and lifelong learning. It enhances students’ awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs, teachings, practices and forms of expression as well as the influence of religion on individuals, families, communities and culture.
We look at a range of religions and find out about belief systems and practises, enabling our students to develop respect for and sensitivity to others, in particular those whose faiths and beliefs are different from their own.
Please note that Bexley have been creating a new SACRE for us to follow, which we are currently planning. This new syllabus will be delivered at HGA from September 2021 and a new map will be shared on the website by the end of the academic year.
