Educational Trips and Visits
We enhance our curriculum with educational visits and trips. These link to topics taught within lessons, as well as opportunities to learn things outside the school environment.
School trips provide unique opportunities for pupils to make their classroom learning more memorable, motivating them to become more enthused with their studies. Discovering new places adds extra depth to pupils’ learning and experiences. School trips are also tools used to enhance social, personal and emotional development for all learners. This exposure to new situations can be particularly beneficial to our SEN learners.
For example:
- Our Geographers participate in fieldwork as well as having an experience of urban environments, with a trip to Peckham, London
- Our Year 12 CTECH Sport pupils visit Body Worlds to view 3D models to see muscular, skeletal and respiratory systems working in action. This helps them to visualise these systems, to enhance their learning experience
- Pupils in KS3 have an opportunity to attend our skiing trip to Switzerland, which they may never have the opportunity to learn outside the classroom, never mind inside (the 2021 ski trip unfortunately had to be cancelled due to COVID-19)
- The PE department organised a sport tour to Italy for those students who were interested in playing netball and football in an international tournament (the 2021 Easter sports tour unfortunately had to be cancelled due to COVID-19)
