To our new Year 7 students

Our term dates for 2023/24 can be viewed here. Our new Year 7 students should arrive to school at 8.25am on Monday 4th September, bringing with them their school bag, pe kit, pencil case and a reading book. Students should be in their correct uniform, as outlined here.

Harris Academy Garrard is fully committed to inclusion. All students at the academy are offered help, advice, and support regardless of whether they are identified as having ‘Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)’. We pride ourselves in supporting all our students during the transition from Primary to Secondary Education.

We recognise that parents/carers play an important role during this period. Parents/carers who have concerns about the learning needs of their child are welcome to contact the Academy at any time. The SEND team are available during Parents’ evenings to discuss the progress of students with Special Educational Needs. There is also an opportunity for a ‘small step’ welcome on Friday 1st September with the SEND team for students who are especially anxious about their move to secondary education. If you feel this would be beneficial to your child, please contact the send team at send@harrisgarrard.org.uk

Our vision and values - what they mean for your child. Harris Garrard Academy combines the traditional values of good manners, strong discipline, and smart uniform with the best of modern teaching and technology. Find out more.

School meals – we are excited to announce that from September we will have a new provider for school meals who are able to offer a wide range of nutritious and tasty food for our students. We will share the new menus in the new academic year so you can view the choice on offer. Please note fizzy drinks, energy drinks and shakes are not permitted within the Academy. Water and/or flavoured water are the only drinks that are permitted. Students will have access to drinking water throughout the day. They should bring their own water bottle.

For students not in receipt of a free school meal there will be a range of competitively priced options. For those that are in receipt a letter will be sent to all families detailing how to apply. If you have any further questions, please contact info@harrisgarrard.org.uk
