Health & Social Care
Our Health & Social Care course is an introduction to the sector through applied learning in a BTEC, and will support progression on to higher education.
Health & Social care is providing care and support physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially for people from infancy to old age. Depending on which age group you prefer to work with, there are a variety of different professions available. While caring for people can be a rewarding profession, you are also responsible for protecting them as well as yourself, so this course will also look at the practical and legal aspects of Health and Social Care.
Working in the sector can be rewarding and challenging, and every day you can feel satisfied knowing you have helped and influenced people's lives in a positive way. During the course you will hear words like development, PIES, Ofsted, regulations, observation, and evaluation. These words are not meant to baffle you but, by learning what they mean in this context, to help you think and act with the service user’s welfare at the forefront of your thinking. The course also encourages you to focus on the needs of others, especially those who are vulnerable, and gives you a better understanding of how to meet their needs.
