Enterprise Excels in Knowledge Maestro Competition

Each term we hold a Knowledge Maestro Quiz for years 7-9 to test them on essential knowledge contained in that term’s Knowledge Organisers.

Knowledge Organisers are booklets produced each term, for each year group, that provide the powerful and essential knowledge for the term, across every subject.

“There’s no trick to the quiz,” says Mr Case. “All the questions are taken directly from that term’s Knowledge Organisers, which encourages students to engage with them. It's really helping to raise the profile of knowledge in the school."

Fingers on the buzzers

To reach the final of the Knowledge Maestro competition students had to first answer 25 questions in their tutor groups. Those coming top were chosen to represent their hub and year group in the term's grand final.

The final took place in the main hall, with the person first to the buzzer getting the chance to answer the question. “When I got chosen for the final I felt scared of doing it in front of Years 9 and 10s,” says Timi, one of the World Science team (pictured) that won the Year 9 competition. "But when I got up there with my team I felt really confident."

Hannah, Year 9, was on the same team. “We had to try and memorise the answers from the Knowledge Organisers and click the buzzer first to answer the question,” she said. “I revised by looking through my Knowledge Organiser.”

Enterprise learning hub wins two prizes

The full results were:

  • Year 9: World Studies
  • Year 8: Enterprise
  • Year 7: Enterprise

The next Knowledge Maestro Quiz will take place at the end of this term, so don’t forget to make good use of your Knowledge Organisers. Because knowledge is power!
