Harris Garrard in Top 18% Nationally for Student Progress

The Harris Garrard Academy is delighted to announce a provisional Progress 8 score of 0.34. This is an amazing achievement in our first year and puts us in the top 18% of schools nationally for student progress.

Our Progress 8 score of 0.34 means we are ranked 658th out of 3,500 secondary schools in England, according to the Key Stage 4 results recently published by the DfE. We also achieved the fourth highest Progress 8 score in Bexley.

This is even more remarkable when you consider the Progress 8 score of our predecessor schools (the Bexley Business Academy and Garrard Academy) which were -0.5 and -0.14 respectively. View our page in the Department for Education performance tables.

This score was in conjunction with 72% of students achieving a Grade 4 or above in English and Maths (the old grade C) and 47% achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths (an old grade B).

Primary success

The academy also achieved amazing primary results back in July, achieving 24% higher than the predecessor school, with 70% of students achieving the expected level in combined measure (Reading, Writing and Maths) at the end of Key Stage 2.

We are very proud of our students, staff, parents/carers and the community for working together to make these results happen. These achievements change children’s lives and open new opportunities. Working together does and will enable us to achieve great things for our students and local community.

Dan Smith, Head of Academy

Chris Everitt, Executive Principal

Progress 8 measures the progress children make between the end of primary school and the end of secondary school. It's designed to encourage good quality teaching across a broad curriculum. Progress 8 is based on pupils' performance in eight qualifications.
